Splatoon 3 version 5.0.0 releases tomorrow at 2am

We have now received information about when Splatoon 3 version 5.0.0 will release. It turns out that it’ll be tomorrow at 2am BST. This is pretty usual with Splatoon 3, but here’s some of the major changes with the update (excluding mostly stuff that’s Drizzle Season related, we’ll have a post scheduled for that on 1am on the 1st).

Weapon balance changes

I can’t really report whether some of these changes are good or bad since I generally play casually, but here’s the weapon balance changes you need to know about.

Special weapon point changes

Both the N-ZAP 85 (180p before the changes) and Annaki Splattershot Nova (200p before the changes) have received a 10p increase in the amount of turf you need to spray in order to gain a special.

Other weapon changes

For all the 5 brella warriors out there, you’ll be pleased to know that the recovery time for the Splat Brella, Sorella Brella and Undercover Brella has been decreased by 1 second (for the Splat and Sorella Brellas, 5.5s) and 0.5 seconds (for the Undercover Brella, 4.0s).

If you love painting in Turf War, unfortunately you’ll be disappointed by the fact that the REEF-LUX 450’s shots have been narrowed. To be more precise, when firing without charging, it has been reduced by 30%, and when firing with charging 1 level, it has been reduced by 29%.

Special weapon changes

Three of the special weapons have received changes to how they work.

First of all, for the Killer Wail 5.1, if it doesn’t lock onto a target in the area of effect, it’ll lock onto the last person in the area of effect. If you’re not quite sure when it locks onto a target, a sound effect and visual indicator will now display.

For the Zipcaster, you’re now able to attach closer to the ground than ever before. Plus, the damage radius has increased when you’re attaching to the ground by 50%, which goes hand in hand with a damage increase.

Unfortunately, for the Tacticooler, the cooldown on receiving points on your special gauge has been increased to 10 seconds, from 7.5 seconds.

Ability changes

We’ve also seen some changes to abilities in this update.

First of all, Tenacity now has had an increase to the speed at which the special gauge fills when the requirements are met.

And, for anyone using Last Ditch Effort, the effect has been reduced from the equivalent of 2.4 primary abilities to 1.8 primary abilities.

Other changes

Just before I go, here’s a quick list of the other major changes we now know.

  • H2Whoa has 3 songs, we previously predicted 2

  • The new Grizzco weapon is the Grizzco Dualies

  • You can now sort Tableturf cards by rarity

  • Shell-Out Machine can now be used whilst waiting for a Private Battle if teams haven’t been chosen yet

  • If one player experiences a communication error, matchmaking is automatically reattempted instead of being suspended because of the error

That’s about everything that’s notable with this for me. There are other changes but we either already know them already or it’s not really interesting enough to report.
